Later that afternoon, while Nora, her mother, and Alaric were playing gin, Aleister was out running errands, Yvonne found some quiet time to just breathe. She just needed a minute or two to herself.

She thought about the night before. Yvonne put her cool hands up to her flushed cheeks. She couldn’t believe that she had been brave enough to go to his bedroom and have sex with him.

Never had she been so forward in her entire life. In the past, she had struggled to even talk to a man that she was attracted to, let alone thrown herself on him. What kind of a woman did that make her, she wondered.

A woman who knew what she wanted and for once in her life, didn’t hesitate to go after it, came the response from the back of her mind.

Yvonne wasn’t so stupid to have any illusions that Aleister loved her. Sure, he liked her as a friend, and was obviously attracted to her or he wouldn’t have been able to perform like he had.

She was sad that he didn’t love her. She didn’t think that he ever could. He was the king of his vampire clan. Although he tried to hide that little tidbit of information from her, she wasn’t an idiot. She was pretty sure that he would be required to take a full blood vampire as a mate, not a woman who had her mixed-up blood.

As sad as she was about the fact that he didn’t love her, she didn’t regret for a single second that she had lost her virginity to him. Even if he never loved her, she would hold that night in her heart as sacred for the rest of her life.

Speaking of the rest of her life, she certainly couldn’t keep hiding out here in his fortress. She had a career to get back to in a couple of months. Plus, it would be very difficult being near a man she had fallen in love with and not be with him. She couldn’t imagine what would happen if he found a mate.

Then, she mentally shook herself. She was a grown-ass woman. She wasn’t about to hang around, living off of other people just because they would let her. That is not the kind of person she was.

It was time for her to start making some plans.

She was pretty sure that her mother was going to want to stay. That was perfectly fine with Yvonne. She knew that Nora and Alaric would never let anyone lay a hand on Beth again. Beth and Nora had become best friends. It seemed that Nora loved Beth every bit as much as Beth loved her. It had been so long since Beth had any friends because of Matt.

Yvonne had made up her mind. As long as her mother was safe, she could be out and about and take care of herself. She just had to make sure that her father didn’t know where she was. That should be easy enough.
